A potter’s pot: The mnemonics of a juvenile

How shapely a pot turns out can be wagered on the hands of its potter…
And early stage learning is built on the same parameters
Though this may raise curious eyebrows and of course many objections…
A stroll into the ‘lower primary’ memory lane could be insightful

Reminiscing over those long ago days…the good old days! Some may say
Where all creative advertising slogans and catch lines originate…
Life was good! Dirt was good! People were connected! Where we lived on the ‘life’ side of life!
That world was simply…the best, it was make.believe…a world of ‘yes we can!’

A world where mathematics was hated or loved, soccer and all games adored!
Where shyness was a normal trait, and love was unconditional…yes! No strings attached
An age where bullies and the bullied had to exist! A clear distinction between strong and weak!
A time when we all learnt to possess…nothing was beyond our reach! Not even private jets

Teachers taught us to be the best and we learnt to own our best…which changed every day
But often I wonder if this did not warp our sense of balance between failure and success
We learnt the distinction between good values and morals, and unacceptable ones
Lower primary! Where neatness and carelessness were defined! Sharp minds made sharper…

Those were the years when we were taught and guided…taught to know and judge and do!
Prepared for the future, encouraged and provided…strengthened to serve! To serve a nation
We joined in one purpose…a quick, keen and true one! Our boldness and meekness, our bond
How well the potter potted, determined how well we turned out…or did it?
