FORGIVENESS
I was ministering briefly somewhere on FORGIVENESS.
We all blunder at one point in time as we go about life. In fact, I am certain that maybe this morning you awoke to the blunders of yesterday. But it is okay!
God is a forgiving father! And today I am here to bring us into an awareness of His forgiveness. There are many forms of forgiveness, but today I will speak about forgiveness in a God towards man dimension.
Forgiveness is about mercy. And when mercy shows up, there is a lifting of burdens. It is my prayer that as you read this and come into an awareness of God's mercy, the burdens in your life will be lifted.
2nd Chronicles 7:14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
The first thing that struck me about this scripture is 'my people', followed by 'called by my name'.
These two phrases are indicators of ownership. They decree that we are God's people, and as His people we carry His very name. Carrying God's name means that we are His direct heirs. I can say quite alot about this aspect but that is reserved for another day.
This brings me to the requisites of forgiveness:
1. Humility
As we seek forgiveness, our nature and stature should conform to humility even as we let go of all our pride!
2. Asking for mercy
Forgiveness is not an assumed state, it is a confirmed state! And access to mercy is a way paved with asking (seeking and praying).
3. Forsaking sin
Being forgiven is about not returning to the ways of old. When we forsake sin, we are getting into a state of being right with God!
What does God's mercy avail?
1. God hears us
When God hears us, it means that we have a fruitful audience with Him. Thus, through this assurance, we enter rest!
2. We access forgiveness
Mercy is the 'please' needed to make us right with God, and thereby give us access to forgiveness
3. We access an overflow of healing
Mercy avails forgiveness; forgiveness avails healing!
When there is healing inside, that overflows to the outside! Inner peace influences the environment we are in!
God has His arms wide open ready to forgive you today. Take a few minutes to reflect on your life and seek His forgiveness.
God bless you!
