FULL CIRCLE Part 4
Last time, we did Full Circle part three. This is the continuation.
We had gone abit deeper into understanding the character of Naaman in the book of 2nd Kings chapter 5. Let's take it deeper:
Remember that Full Circle is about Integrity, and we discovered that integrity is the state of being whole, entire or undiminished, or it alternatively is unreduced and unbroken completeness or totality.
Welcome to Full Circle part 4
2nd Kings 5:9 So Naaman went with his horses and chariots and stopped at the door of Elisha's house.
And so Naaman comes to Elisha's house. What first strikes me is that Naaman comes with his horses and chariots! Not one horse and not one chariot; but their plural!
This man carries with him the spleandour of his majesty. If we relate that to modern times, he came with his motorcade! He came bearing all his power and authority!
He was not here for small talk, he was here for serious business! And so he came with the biggest show of might he had; his stature and his riches!
Now, this is representative of a sense of deep rooted pride! His wealth and status were his keys to opening every door in his life; his reasoning was that they would open the doors to his healing! How wrong he was!
A lot of time we are in trouble and we run to God to deliver us, but instead of acting like we are the ones that need God, we behave as though it is our wealth, our influence, our status, etc, that will give us a voice before Him! We feel that our status makes us deserve His attention!
Child of God, our Father is not a respector of persons (Acts 10:34), He does not get moved by your great deeds and sizeable sacrifices (Psalms 51:16)! He is God, and we offer Him nothing He has not already given!
Watch this: Naaman shows up at Elisha's house and expects to be received. Now if a man of status shows up at your house, it is the expectation that you will go out of your way, regardless of the inconvenience, to make him comfortable!
Let's see what Elisha does:
2nd Kings 5:10 Elisha sent a messenger to say to him, "Go, wash yourself seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will be restored and you will be cleansed."
Elisha did what? He did not come out to meet this man, he did not even invite him into his house, he did not even seem to take notice of the greatness that had come visiting; he sent a messenger! A mere messenger!
How much trouble do you think such an action can raise today? Simple actions that go against the expected norm ensure trouble for you in a large scale; Remember Mordecai against Haman? Remember Jesus against the pharisees?
Because it is the expectation that you should conform to the expectations of society! It is the expectation that your education level, your family tree, your level of intellect, your hard work and determination is what will get you there!
And so we try to apply our carnal knowledge to the dimensions of God to try and make things work out in our favour.
We refuse to come to terms that God choose person x or y, who by our assessment and perception were not deserving of God's use! We become angry that what we worked ourselves sore to attain, they attained seemingly without struggle. And so we assume that when we are in their environment, they should honour and esteem us because we have a higher standing that we actually deserve!
But child of God, that is not how it works; your high standing, wealth, influence, etc only keeps you in relevance when there is the God-factor. Otherwise it is futile and unfulfilling! It's an incomplete circle; and no wholeness is attained by lack of completion!
Halleluyah!
And so God gives an instruction, and because we had a preset mindset of how God should move and operate, we feel disappointed - even enraged, that He did not move or operate how we expected Him to!
We expect the master to come out to meet us, and he sends his messenger with our answer!
And in our minds, we look at the messenger and instead of listening to the message, we wonder "How dare He!"
And today I conclude by saying this: Your thoughts are not God's thoughts! Full circle is about the shift from trusting who you are and what you have, to trusting who God Is and what He Has!
Halleluyah
God bless you!
