#NationsEvangelism 1

And here are the notes from the Evangelism class at Made In Jesus on 10th September 2014:

This is #NationsEvangelism, the Evangelism Class!
Today we cover "The What, Why, Where, When and How of Evangelism"
Welcome to Evangelism 101
We have all heard of the word Evangelism, and am pretty sure a lot of us have either a rough or good idea of what evangelism is, but then again, assumptions aside!

THE WHAT: What Really Is Evangelism?
I will start this from abit closer home.
The dictionary terms evangelism to be a noun that denotes "the spreading of the Christian gospel by public preaching or personal witness"
Notice the use of the words 'Christian gospel'; pretty specific...huh?
Now, let's take it deeper:
The word evangelism comes from the Greek noun 'Euaggelion', which means gospel or good news.
When the word 'Euaggelion' is translated into a verb, it becomes 'Euaggelizesthai', which brings out the meaning to announce or bring good news
Thus, we can conclude that Evangelism is simply the communication of the gospel message.
In a more advanced word setup, we can say that evangelism is the announcement, proclamation and/or preaching of the Gospel
Before we can evangelize, it is important to understand why we should evangelize!

THE WHY: Why Is Evangelism Necessary? Why Should We Do It?
There are many reasons for Evangelism, but today I will give just four, that are important and impactful to us:
1. Jesus Expects us to evangelize!
-In Matthew 28:18-20 we encounter the great commission
2. To Accomplish the purpose of Jesus
-Luke 19:10 affirms Christ's mandate. If the lifestyle of Christ is our benchmark, then we are meant to bring light to those in darkness
3. How else will a dying world, which is clueless as to what is ailing it, become aware of the truth?
-Romans 10:14
4. Evangelism brings forth access to Wisdom! And Life!
-Proverbs 11:30; Need I say more?

THE WHERE: How Far Should I Take The Gospel?
The answer to this question is so simple yet so complex at the same time
Mark 16:15 instructs us to preach the gospel to all the world and to all of creation
So, do you have a limit to how far you can take the gospel? NO!
Take it (the gospel) everywhere; To the streets, workplaces, schools, churches, hospitals, governments, EVERYWHERE!

THE WHEN: When Should I Evangelize?
This question must have probably sprang in your mind at some point in life!
But before we even get to answer it, let us look at what Romans 8:19 and 8:22 say!
You can imagine that already, creation is in dire need for you and me to be revealed/manifested! The longer we wait, the longer creation stays in pain and turmoil!
Hear this: Matthew 9:37-38 affirms this dire need for workers in the harvest field!
Child of God the fact that the world appears more distant from God should not only be seen as a threat, but also as an opportunity!
Now, more than ever, we need to intensify our evangelism efforts, so that there can be liberty in the nations!

THE HOW: How Do We Fulfill/Carry Out The Evangelism Mandate?
We will look at this from several distinct angles:
Firstly, let us understand the gospel message!
The gospel message, as evangelized, carries three distinct features: a warning, an explanation and a call!
-warning-> warning people about sin and its consequences
-explanation-> explaining God's remedy for sin (the gospel)
-call-> a clear call to repentance from sin and turning to God through believing the Gospel, by faith!
Secondly, it is important to understand that evangelism is the duty of every Christian!
God expects that if you are given much, you give the much more that is required!
So, share the gospel wherever you are! You are there for a reason!
Thirdly, it is very important to familiarize yourself with the following evangelism facts!
√Evangelism is the proclamation of Jesus Christ! PERIOD!
√Evangelism will disrupt normal routine!
√God is preparing the hearts of the people He is prompting us to share Christ with!
√Evangelism MUST come back around to a conversation about Christ!
√Evangelism is not a one-time deal!
The Last aspect is based in two scriptures:
-Matthew 10:7-8
-2nd Timothy 4:5
Wherever you are, regardless of your profession, do the work of an evangelist and proclaim the Gospel of Christ!

I will end with these two quotes on Evangelism:
-The great commission is not an option to be considered; it is a command to be obeyed - Hudson Taylor
-Missionary zeal does not grow out of intellectual beliefs nor out of theological arguments, but out of Love! - Rolland Allen

That is all from me today! Join us next week (17th September 2014) as we hear from brother Francis Irungu on the Word Dimension in Evangelism! Have a lovely night and God bless you!
