I Reject The King's Portion! Part 1
Grace to you and peace from our Father dear brethren. Today we are going to start on a new subject matter even as we take the next journey into hearing God about our lives. In this particular subject matter, we are going to focus on living as a Christian in a world that has embraced secularism. We shall therefore endeavour to bring out a stand for Jesus Christ and all that He stands for. This is expressly because unless we trace back to the standard, then we can never really emulate it. In our Christian walk, the standard is Christ. His lifestyle, nature, words and everything about Him are the bottom line for the Christian life. To be able to understand this standard, we need to understand foundations, origins and sources.
Ephesians 2:10 establishes that we are God's handiwork: 'For we are His (God's) workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them (NKJV)'. This scripture validates several things about us that are fundamental to understanding foundations. Firstly, it establishes the role of God as our Creator by validating Genesis 1:26-28. Then it validates John 1:3 and Colossians 1:16-17 by establishing Christ as the source and reason for our existence. Lastly it validates Jeremiah 1:5 and 29:11 by establishing God has set before us a path that is perfect and glorious because His interest in our lives is for our good. This therefore brings us to the conclusion that to understand foundations, origins and sources, we must first understand the attributes of the source. We need to understand that God did not bring forth His creation because He was bored and wanted some play toys to amuse Himself. In fact, 1st Corinthians 15:28 and Ephesians 1:23 both establish that God is all in all. He is perfect at being perfect without anyone or anything adding or subtracting from Him.
Therefore as we think about foundations, origins and sources, we ought to establish God's role as the absolute source, foundation and origin of all things. Only then can we understand how high the standard is and how much we need Him to help us live out our lives in the realization of this standard. God, when viewed as the absolute source, origin and foundation, enables us to discover the identity which creates a clear border between what is of God and what is not of Him. Additionally, looking at God as the foundation, source and origin is essential in making us realize how much we need a constant connection to this source. That is what we will look at next. Remember: Understanding foundations, origins and sources is the key to unlocking identity, purpose and mandate.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, thank you for this day. I surrender to Your Lordship. As I learn more about foundations, sources and origins, open my eyes to Your presence, my ears to Your voice and my life to Your identity. Amen.
