Lukewarm Ain't Hot Enough For Me Part 4

Grace to you and peace from our Father dear brethren. In the previous segment, we went a little farther in talking about how lukewarm is not our kind of hot. Today we want to take that journey farther even as we break things down a little warm. Matthew 25:14-30 presents to us an interesting narrative on three servants who are given talents by their master. Two of them put these talents to work and there is multiplication, while one of them decides that inactivity is the way to go. The result? Lack of increase or productivity. This is what the master tells this servant: ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. So you ought to have deposited my moneys to the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to him that has ten talents. “For to him who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”[Matthew 25:26-30 (NKJV)]’.
This servant is not brought into judgment for losing what he was given, rather for not propagating it. Notice also that the master did not give them an instruction to propagate what they had been given. However, there is a natural order established by God that dictates that anything living needs to experience increase. How much more we who are His. Genesis 1:26 says we are created in the image and likeness of God. That makes our identity the identity of His Spirit. Therefore we cannot be fence sitters or remain aloof of His agenda for creation. We have been ‘called out of darkness into his marvelous light’ because we are ‘a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation and his own special people’, according to 1st Peter 2:9 (NKJV). Therefore being lukewarm becomes the equivalent of ‘having a form of godliness but denying its power’ [1st Timothy 3:5a (NKJV)].
Is it not interesting that God’s first command to man in Genesis 1:28 actually involves being proactive and doing something with what we have? We are commanded to be propagators! You cannot have a knowledge of God and become a fence sitter. You cannot encounter His presence and fail to be drawn in by His Light. It is His light that carries His life with it. And where there is life, there has to be productivity! Stepping out of a lukewarm aspect of our lives will cost us big time. We will have to give up the comfort of being embers to the uncomfortable place of being a full raging fire! That is where lukewarm stops being our kind of hot! To get there, there are things we will have to totally let go of as we will see in the next few days.
PRAYER: Father I embrace the Truth of Your word today. As I take on the responsibility of stewardship in my life, may I be faithful with what you have given me even as you entrust me with more. I will become more proactive with my faith and my assignment on earth. Amen.
