Lukewarm Ain't Hot Enough For Me Part 3
Grace to you and peace from our Father dear brethren. In the previous segment, we went a little farther in talking about this subject. Today we will pick up from there and let God minister to us more about how to get away from being lukewarm. It is important to note that a lukewarm believer cannot be able to assimilate the instruction God gives, or even carry it out. This is because they are in a state of comfort based on their accomplishments in the flesh. A lukewarm believer has reached a state of stunted growth because there is an absence of revelation in their lives. They are no longer hearing God and thus they cannot produce faith! Remember Romans 10:17 says: ‘So then faith comes by hearing and hearing, by the word of God (NKJV)’. When our ears are closed out to God, it is nearly always an indication that there is a hindrance to our fellowship with Him. Job 33:14 cautions this: ‘For God may speak in one way, or in another, yet man does not perceive it (NKJV)’. It is very prudent time and again to assess what aspects of our lives are causing us to be blind and deaf to God’s Light and His voice.
As we established in the previous segment, a lukewarm believer is a breeding ground for apostasy because inwardly they are dead in their sub-conscious and outwardly they are lethargic in their deeds. This believer is normally content with the comforts offered by the satisfaction of the flesh, because their spirit man is too cold and indifferent to God’s instruction or will. A lukewarm believer thus lacks a teachable spirit, which is often the prerequisite for spiritual growth and maturity. A lukewarm believer is the poster child for everything that is wrong with the church today. This is because a believer who is lukewarm in nature quickly replaces God’s perfect and absolute will with a version they call “the permissive will of God”. This is the highest level of deception because there are just two sides to this coin: the perfect will of God (which is absolute), and disobedience!
The Bible gives us one very critical aspect for reestablishing fellowship with God (which will make us hot for Him as we draw from the fire that is His presence), and understanding His will (which births obedience that keeps His flame burning in and through us). Romans 12:1-2 says: ‘I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to god, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God (NKJV)’. Brethren, flesh cannot glory in the presence of God and that is why it has to die through being sacrificed on the altar from whence God’s fire burns. Our lives and lifestyles have to radiate His fire and that begins with shedding the darkness that carries with it the cold nature of flesh!
PRAYER: Lord Jesus I present myself to You today. I realize now that many times I have let the cold nature of my flesh quench the fire of my Spirit. I want to shed every form of a lethargic nature and become transformed and renewed in my mind. Lord open my ears that I will hear you in totality. Amen.
