I Reject The King's Portion! Part 8
Grace to you and peace from our Father dear brethren. We have been looking at ways in which the world attracts us into living according to its statutes and expectations. Today we will look at one more instance of how the world ensnares us, before we start looking at how to respond to the world from tomorrow. Daniel 6:7 says this: 'All the governors of the kingdom, the administrators and satraps, the counselors and advised, have consulted together to establish a decree, that whomever petitions any god or man for thirty days, except you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions (NKJV)'. The background of this passage is that the administrators and noblemen are on a mission to stop Daniel from getting a promotion. Daniel at this time is one among three governors overseeing a hundred and twenty satraps who are administrators of the entire kingdom. King Darius has discovered that Daniel has within him a spirit of excellence and he has distinguished himself. For this reason, the king wants to give Daniel charge over the whole kingdom. The problem with this is that the world system understands a truth that they cannot ignore: Proverbs 29:2 'When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked man rules, the people groan (NKJV)'. The result is a witch hunt to set Daniel up to ensure that his promotion will never materialize. Interesting part is that they know they can never fault him based on his administration or character and so the only option was alter the law on something he could not go against - serving His God.
Recently there have been many onslaughts into Christianity, based on the principles the true Gospel upholds. The world system has been fighting back with a demand to separate church from state, religion from education, among other things. The world system has introduced countless legislations to limit the propagation of Christian ideals in and through places of influence in a bid to curb the inculcation of the Gospel into society. The world understands that as long as there is a river of life flowing into the dead sea, life will keep changing some of what was dead by giving it life. When you read the Ezekiel 47 account of the river that flows from the temple into the dead sea, you realize that at the point where the river meets the sea, the waters of the sea are healed. That is what the true unadulterated Gospel does to the world - it heals what is dead that comes into contact with it. Paul consistently says that the Gospel we have received is not devoid of power. This power is the life of God, the very essence of His nature. Nothing that encounters life can remain dead and the world knows this.
2nd Timothy 3:1-7 and 4:3-4 paint a picture of what the world is like today. The world often times will try arm-twist us into a place where we have to conform to its patterns. Often times these forced submissive measures by the world against the church carry the mask of being "more inclusive", "regulation" and "protection of the masses". Truth it us just a ruse to keep the Gospel under wraps so that light cannot expose the darkness.
PRAYER: Mighty God I surrender at Your feet. A door for effective works has been opened unto me but I receive opposition. Give me courage and boldness to stand for You. Amen.
