I Reject The King's Portion! Part 7
Grace to you and peace from our Father dear brethren. Today we are going to look for one more instance in the book of Daniel that demonstrates how the system of the world expects to enslave the body of Christ. Daniel 3:4-6 says this: 'Then a herald cried out aloud: "To you it is commanded, O peoples, nations and languages, that at the time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre and psaltery, in symphony with all kinds of music, you shall fall down and worship the gold image that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up; and whoever does not fall down and worship shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace" (NKJV)'. The background of this text is that King Nebuchadnezzar orders the fashioning and setting up of a gold image which will be worshipped. He established a system and then calls in all the men of influence and the administrators to be present at its launch. As we discovered in a former part of this series, one of the easiest ways to establish a system is to bring on board those who carry authority, influence and power. When these ones enforce the adoption of the system, most of the populace adopts the system.
When I was thinking about this text, I discovered some few things. Firstly as long as the world holds a place of dominion and significance, it will set up systems that align to its principles. A secular society cannot give a godly solution! Every tree reproduces after its own kind and thus it is vanity to expect a mango tree to produce oranges. The contrast here is that there are many Christian settings that feel the need to be inclusive and thus bring in aspects of worldliness into their programmes and systems. The result is a watered-down Gospel and a great commission that is fulfilled in part because it omits 'teaching them to observe ALL the things that I have commanded you; (NKJV) [Matthew 28:20a]'. Secondly, the world is not focused on winning just some over. It is interested in winning everyone over. The world system does not apologize for its zeal and radical nature when it comes to winning the masses to itself. Advertisements for vices are plastered all over the media and internet, while mobilization of the masses to engage in vices is meticulous and excellently done. The appeal of what is worldly is strengthened so that the masses can be influenced into indulgence. The contrast for this in the church is that while we are not to conform to the gimmicks and patterns of this world, we have slowly lost our radical nature. In fact radical Christians are frowned upon in society and sooner or later most of them lose their passion for God in a bid to "tone down" and become "more accommodating".
Being fruitful is not about number of fruit, rather how good the fruit that is produced is; it does not translate to changing the DNA of the tree for a better yield, rather to pruning whatever is not bearing good fruit. Being radical does not translate to being a nuisance. It just means that you are taking a stand for the truth, yet are open to God's leading on the methodology to go about ministering Him. When we function in truth, we give forth only truth!
PRAYER: Lord Jesus thank You for entrusting me with the Gospel. As I account to You for it, make me understand faithfulness so that I can minister you to the nation's with zeal. Amen.
