Lukewarm Ain't Hot Enough For Me Part 2
Grace to you and peace from our Father dear brethren. Last time we talked briefly about the state of being lukewarm. Today we want to continue to listen to God as He ministers more on this subject. We came to the conclusion that the state of being lukewarm is consistent with passive faith and it is tantamount to walking at the edge of the precipice. James 2:17 says: ‘In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead (NKJV)’. As you read through James Chapter 2, you begin to realize that passive faith is actually a state of being shortchanged as a believer; where we are actually living in a place of redundancy and endless circles. That is how badly we are doing as a body of Christ when we don’t walk in the full scale of our mandate as the representatives of Christ on earth. When the times of distinction and defining come as per Malachi 3:18, a lukewarm believer will be defined with the unrighteous (wicked) and those who do no not serve God.
Revelation 3:14-19: ‘And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, ‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of my mouth. Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need for nothing’ – and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked – I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent” (NKJV)’. This passage of scripture is the true embodiment of what a lukewarm lifestyle is all about. It depicts a comfort that brings about a lethargic church; and being lethargic is the first step towards apathy! The gradual descent down apathy lane will eventually lead to apostasy.
It is also clear from this passage that God despises a lukewarm body of Christ so much that He is willing to detach Himself (vomit out) from anything which tastes a little like lukewarm! Anything lukewarm is so distasteful to God that it cannot enjoy the fellowship of His mouth! To understand this we need to understand that from God’s mouth comes His Word and therefore the atmosphere of His mouth is too hot for anything lukewarm to thrive. A lukewarm believer is thus the one Paul talks of in 2nd Timothy 3:7 who are ‘always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth’. I would like to submit to you that being in God is a call into faith that is both active and radical. Faith is the very basis of belief and that is why it is impossible to please God without it [Hebrews 11:6]. Active faith will make you hot for God while radical faith will make you consistently shine the Light.
PRAYER: Father God I am grateful for Your Love. I know in chastising me You want the best for me. Today I submit to You everything that has taken the place of Your fire in my life. Reignite me again with a fire for You and restore me into fellowship with You. I desire to burn for You from this moment. Amen.
