I Reject The King's Portion! Part 10
Grace
to you and peace from our Father dear brethren. We started last time on how to
deal with the lure of the world system. Today we will look at another response
to the systems of the world. It is first important to understand that the
Christian walk is about actions. We have to continuously exercise our faith,
obedience and trust in God through actualizing what God says in His word. The
revelation of God only happens where He is, and thus we have to be stayed in
His pursuit if we are to stand the slightest chance at consistency in shunning
the ways of the world. The only way we can validly administrate the resources
of heaven is if we have a legitimate claim to an identity there. The only way
to have an identity in heaven is to be in genuine love relationship with the
Father. As long as we are in a genuine love relationship with the Father, then
we can stand firm in defence of His honour. Essentially this goes ahead to mean
that our hearts break at what breaks His heart. Daniel 3:12 says '"There
are certain Jews whom you have set over the affairs of the province of Babylon:
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego; these men, O king, have not paid due regard
to you. They do not serve your gods or worship the gold image which you have
set up" (NKJV)'.
The
response of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego to the decree of the King, that
everyone should worship his gold statue, is that they instead disregard the
decree. You know, when we look at the ordinary hierarchy of any system, the
word of the leader is regarded as the law, and going against it comes at a
great expense to anyone not in full compliance. For you to be carried off into
exile in a foreign land, then become taught in the ways of the new land, then
be given charge over the land, and then refuse to comply with the expectations
of your benefactor, is literally unimaginable. But these men could not even
imagine going against God. To them, King Nebuchadnezzar's decree was a "non-issue"
that had no bearing to their lives. They ignored it as they would ignore a mad
man in the market! O what courage and boldness! When a report is being given to
the king, he is told that they not only disregarded the decree to bow down to
his gold image, but all their life, they had never once paid homage to the gods
of the land! They had been taught the ways of the Chaldeans, but they reserved
the right to implement whatever was acceptable to their God. Later on as they
are giving their stand to the king, they bluntly inform him that their
commitment to God was unto death.
This
is what we need in the world today! We are constantly being subjected to the
interpretation of the world on what success, love, commitment, worship, praise,
music, ministry, etc should be about. The more we lack an identity in God, the
easy it is to get swayed by the fallacies presented to us. If we are to have an
unwavering commitment to God, then we have to first build a genuine
relationship with Him based on and birthed in our undying love for Him!
PRAYER:
Lord God almighty, many are the times my commitment to You has waivered and
shaken due to my indulgences. Today I choose to take a stand for You. No matter
what the world brings my way, I will stand firm in You. Help me O Lord. Amen.
