I Reject The King's Portion! Part 12

Grace to you and peace from our Father dear brethren. Last time, we looked at the first lesson derived from Daniel's response to the setup by the governors and satraps of Babylon as depicted in Daniel 6:13 'So they answered and said before the king, "That Daniel, who is one of the captives from Judah, does not show due regard for you, O king, or for the decree that you have signed, but makes his petition three times a day" (NKJV)'. Today we will look at the rest of the lessons from the verse. The second lesson we get from this verse is that Daniel esteems His God more than anything. He has no place for whatever is contrary to God's instruction. It did not matter what wave of doctrine came, or even who was the originator of such! For Daniel, His Spirit would not allow flesh to glory by pleasing man. Our devotion to God cannot be birthed or sustained by what is superficial, or else it cannot stand the test of time. We have to be those who denounce the hypocricy and mediocrity that Isaiah 29:13 talks about when it cautions us about a walk with God characterized by lip service and the dictates of the doctrines of men. We have to walk the talk and be ready to become apologists of the faith in a world that is intent on swaying us from the Light.
The other lesson we derive from Daniel 6:13 is that when faced with persecution and adversity, we should not cower and stop having our fellowship with God. As we have talked about in previous segments of this series, it is important to remain connected to the source at all times. It is only then that we can propagate life. A disconnection from the source is the first step into allowing corruption to have a place in us. As long us we can stay fueled by the unadulterated life that is in God, we remain effective in our mandate. The only way to stay connected with the Life that is in the Source, is to remain in constant fellowship with the Source. Daniel's significance was possible only because His God was significant! It is this understanding that made Daniel bold enough to pull off a thrice-in-a-day prayer schedule at a time when it was illegal to. You see, boldness is only present in adversity when we have a conviction that what we stand for is greater than what the status quo stands for! As long as we remain convinced that we are serving Him that is constant and never changes, we remain unperturbed by what is temporary and unworthy. Proverbs captures this phenomenon so well in chapter 31 verse 30: 'Charm is deceitful, and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised (NKJV).'
Solomon when summing up the book of Ecclesiastes in chapter 12 verse 13 says this: 'Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man (KJV)'. If we are to represent an Eternal God, then we have to stop focusing on the darkness by reacting to it, and instead choose to respond to Light by radiating it.
PRAYER: Thank You Lord for Your Love towards me. Today I choose to let my life be a reflection of Your Glory. As such I will pursue You and be in Your presence in constant fellowship with You. Refresh me and renew me in the waters of You word and Your Spirit. Amen.
