I Reject The King's Portion! Part 11
Grace to you and peace from our Father dear brethren. Today we are going
to continue looking at how we are to respond to the world in its
attempt to draw us into worldliness. We have been looking at this based
on the book of Daniel, and it has been quite the journey of discovery.
This morning I seem it important to mention that the Bible is calling us
to: 'Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a
roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour (KJV) [1st Peter
5:8]'. As long as we are caught napping or off guard, then the enemy
can cause us to lose our footing on the ledge. We need to understand
that the entire significance of a Christian is enshrined in
understanding that we are significant because Christ is significant. As
such, that minimizes the chances of us being conceited and overly
impressed with ourselves. Our being able to stand for God has nothing to
do with our strength and power, or even our great resolve! Rather we
are products of His grace; imperfect but held together by His intense
and furious love for us. We love Him and live for Him because He first
loved us and gave up His life for the sake of ours. And so even as we
look at the responses in the book of Daniel, towards the lure of the
world, we should understand that these did not happen because Daniel and
his friends were on form! The onset of God's mercy is the genesis of
grace, love and truth; his mercy suspends his judgment and perfects what
the Blood has touched!
During the reign of King Darius, an attack is waged on Daniel in a bid to stop his ascension to an even greater position. Daniel is however not shaken, and His zeal for God is unwavering. Daniel 6:13 'So they answered and said before the king, "That Daniel, who is one of the captives from Judah, does not show due regard for you, O king, or for the decree that you have signed, but makes his petition three times a day" (NKJV)'.
The first significant thing about this verse is how they reference Daniel in their address to the king. The king obviously knows Daniel because they are close friends and it is him that he intends to promote. When they say "who is one of the captives from Judah", they are reminding the new king that this guy has no right to have charge over us because he is not one of us! They are informing the king that his background needs haunt him because he does not have a good one! He is a captive from another land and the status quo does not allow a slave to become the master! Every time the world realizes you are a threat to it, there will always be that constant reminder about your unworthiness! The enemy knows that if he can put you down by reminding you of your past and background, then he can make you ineffective by virtue of the fact that you will feel unworthy and incompetent. You have to realize, however, that we cannot move forward while still looking behind. The constant reminders by the enemy about what is behind should not make us lose sleep! Love orchestrated Mercy; Mercy paid the price for Grace. We will look at more of this verse in the next part of this series.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus You are worthy. Thank you because I am significant because You are significant. Today I embrace Your love so that it can fuel my passion for You. Amen.
