Lukewarm Ain't Hot Enough For Me Part 1
Grace to you and peace from our Father dear brethren. These are beautiful times for the body of Christ (the Church), and there is quite a lot happening in the Spiritual realm. One of the most effective responses to this time is vigilance and sobriety of the mind. 1st Peter 5:8 ‘Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (NKJV)’. It is my belief that times of great darkness offer the most opportune moments for light to break out and usher in revival! Thus if the body of Christ could sit back and understand the times like the men of Issachar in 1st Chronicles 12:32, then our course of action would be to respond to the light rather than react to darkness. It is therefore my strong belief that taking a journey through this subject will allow us to fashion our identity from the light that is and is in God, rather than from our surroundings and prevalent circumstance.
There is something so profound that dropped into my Spirit as the Lord started to minister to me about this subject. He said: We accomplish the same result when we engage in wickedness, as when we fail to propagate righteousness by doing nothing about the wickedness! This statement gave me serious jitters and the more I thought about it, the more it messed up my mind. How can failing to do something be equal to doing its opposite? The Lord quickly sent me to 1st Samuel 12:23 ‘Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you; but I will teach you the good and the right way (NKJV)’. Samuel made me understand the need for every believer to be proactive and deliberate about their ambassadorial duties for Christ. I now began to fully comprehend the magnitude of Matthew 5:16 as we are instructed to let our light shine to all men.
The last thing I want to do is say that being lukewarm is equivalent to being undefined and indecisive. The fallacy of a lukewarm nature is that we get tempted to think that failing to wage war on the kingdom of the enemy will ensure we experience times of peace ‘within our borders’. However, what being lukewarm does is expose our passive faith and the fact that we are neither living nor thriving, rather just existing. Passive faith is the place of existence between nowhere and anywhere; in fact passive faith is the downward slope towards faithlessness. Over the next few days, we will delve deeper into what God is speaking on this subject. We will sail away from the safety of the harbor and venture into the deep. We have to lose sight of the shore if we are to ‘discover’ new lands and conquer them.
PRAYER: Father I thank You for today. Many times I have opted to stay in the comfort of a lukewarm nature because confronting my own weaknesses was difficult. In this moment I enter into a new nature of boldness. My resolve is to let you guide me away from everything lukewarm and set me on Your fire. Lukewarm is no longer hot enough for me! Amen.
