Lukewarm Ain't Hot Enough For Me Part 5
Grace to you and peace from our Father dear brethren. Lukewarm is a ‘not-so-subtle’ state of mediocrity! It exposes us to a natural acceptance of the status quo that can be very costly to our Christian walk. Often enough, a lukewarm nature is indifferent to the happenings of the spiritual realm because lukewarm believers are in a limbo – they neither see the things of the Spirit, hear the Voice of God nor speak His word. Psalms 38:14 clearly states that a man who does not hear cannot offer a reply in his mouth. This in essence means that these kinds of believers have sight but no vision, they are ever listening but never hearing, and they are continuously associating with the Faith but are unable to extrapolate the core agenda of the Gospel they ‘believe’ in.
2nd Timothy 2:15 says ‘Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (KJV)’. A believer who is in a lukewarm state is quick on reading God’s word but slow or completely lacking in applying it. This is mostly because they hardly understand the difference between Study of the Bible and reading the Bible. Hence to them the Bible to them remains logos and has no difference from reading a novel. If we are to become believers who are burning for God, then we have to come to the revelation that the text of the scriptures needs to become rhema through its application in our lives.
It is important to understand that a complete obliteration of a lukewarm state would mean a complete ignition by the word of God. Jeremiah 23:29 ‘Is not My word like a fire? Says the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces? (NKJV)’. The word not only carries the fire to ignite us, it also carries the power that gives us the capacity to propagate this fire as we obey His call. The power of God’s word sustains (upholds) all thing (Hebrews 1:3a), making His word the very mine from whence His power comes from. For us to understand the magnitude of 1st Thessalonians 1:5, we have to come to the place where we realize that what we carry within us when we get born again is not flimsy! It is potential that is beyond the power of the most extreme aspects of life and nature that we know!
PRAYER: Father God I bless Your Name because I now understand the magnitude of the power that I carry. With the understanding that with great power comes great responsibility, I now choose to take responsibility by rejecting everything that dims the potential of Your power that I carry within me. I choose vision, I choose to hear and I choose rhema. Amen.
